Thanks to a $20M donation from Paul G Allen, late co-founder of Microsoft, Swedish Medical Services will be launching a research center focused on how to both treat and prevent cancer.
The Seattle-based research center will have three key programs including the Initiative for Molecular and Genomic Evaluation of Cancer (IMGEC), the Center for Immuno-oncology, and the Initiative for Cancer Prevention and Early Detection.
“For Mr. Allen to put his trust in us for his care means a lot to our organization. And now with this gift, we will be able to serve and honor his legacy, by not only serving those in the Puget Sound region, but all cancer patients and communities everywhere,” said Dr. Guy Hudson, CEO of Swedish Health Services.
