According to a recent report by WalletHub, Washington has the strongest state economy in the country. The rankings were determined based on three elements: economic activity, economic health and innovation potential.
Washington topped the list with the most independent inventor patents and the highest amount of research developments per capita, contributing to high marks in innovation potential. King County, where Seattle resides, recently reported an all-time low unemployment rate of 1.9% which experts attribute to the rapid economic recovery from the pandemic, with job gains being seen across the workforce spectrum.
“Our region is so resilient because our jobs market is so strong,” said Brandon Lawler, a broker with Kidder Mathews. “Even if a recession hits, we already have the drivers and the job market in place to get through it smoothly.”
