A new 197,000 square-foot life sciences building is under construction in Seattle to alleviate the increased demand for lab space.
Seattle is part of a nationwide biotech boom, with the number of life science researchers in the region growing 24 percent from 2015 to 2020 and venture capital funding reaching an all-time high in 2021. Currently, 25 life science companies in Seattle are looking for a place to call home.
The new space will be designed for research, with dedicated emergency power, side-loaded floors to support heavy equipment and outside air exchange. The building will also anchor a mixed-use area on the block that includes apartments and commercial space.
