For Nobel Prize Winner David Baker, it’s Back to the Lab as Protein Pioneer Helps Launch More Startups

After accepting the Nobel Prize award in chemistry, David Baker is eager to return to his lab at the University of Washington to continue paving the future of protein design.

“I’m basically putting all my focus into pushing the science along as fast as possible, because it’s so exciting right now,” said Baker. “Designing particular biochemical functions is getting more and more advanced.”

With more than 20 startups having spun out of Baker’s lab and UW’s Institute for Protein Design, David Baker has firmly positioned Seattle as a leader in protein design innovation.
