The donation, the largest-ever to the 40-year-old UW program, is intended to build a pipeline of licensed technicians who perform, analyze and ensure the accuracy of lab tests that help diagnose, monitor and prevent diseases.
“This is going to serve students in this program for decades. That is why it’s such a transformational gift,” UW Medicine CEO Dr. Tim Dellit said.
In addition to freeing up students financially during their clinical rotations, Dellit said the donation will enable the UW to gradually expand the program to train more students.
