Researchers at Fred Hutch have reached a milestone in blocking Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which infects an estimated 95% of the global population and is linked to cancer and other chronic diseases. Using mice engineered with human antibody genes, the team developed genetically human monoclonal antibodies that prevent the virus from entering human immune cells.
