Life Science Washington has been awarded approximately $200,000 by Career Connect Washington to invest in creating  an innovative Biotechnology Certificate program that will be developed with local companies. The funding will go to the Center for Biotechnology Innovation and Training (CBIT) at the University of Washington Bothell to bridge the skills gap and create a career connected pathway in the life sciences industry.

The curriculum will feature courses co-developed and taught in partnership with industry professionals, offering students valuable opportunities to interact with industry leaders and participate in lab-based projects under the guidance of industry mentors. This program addresses the critical need for industry-based laboratory skills, a significant barrier to hiring new graduates with a 4-year degree in the life sciences sector. The curriculum will pave the way for hands-on project-based learning and on-campus internship opportunities for all students enrolled in the program.

Please reach out to Srikant Iyer (srikant@lifesciencewa.org) for additional information on ways in which you can participate in this first of its kind industry-aligned program with CBIT.
