Nearly 12 months after experiencing the U.S.’s first widespread COVID-19 outbreak, Seattle has recorded the lowest COVID-related death rate of the 20 largest metropolitan regions in the country. While a variety of factors contributed to this success, the city’s renowned health and research institutions were instrumental in driving awareness early, leading to strict safety protocols that have remained in place for much of the last year.
