Partner Nicole Dunham focuses on implementing patent strategies to further her clients’ business objectives and goals. Her practice encompasses all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution, strategic development of patent portfolios, freedom to operate analysis, patent validity analysis and other intellectual property due diligence. Nicole has extensive experience with both investor-side and company-side patent-related due diligence, representing venture capital firms, institutional investors, multinational corporations and emerging companies from incubation through acquisition. She also partners with patent litigation counsel on infringement matters, as well as transactional counsel during corporate financings and M&A transactions associated with tech companies.
Within the medical device sector, Nicole has significant experience counseling clients in a variety of different fields, including neurostimulation and monitoring, cardiac valve replacement and repair (aortic and mitral valve),cardiac pacing, neurovascular devices, orthopedic devices, vascular surgery, otorhinolaryngological systems, gastrointestinal devices, electrosurgical tools, stents, shunts, gynecological devices, therapeutic ultrasound and ophthalmic devices. She also has significant experience with medical imaging, real-time marker tracking, digital health and wearables.
In addition to her depth of experience in med tech field, Nicole provides strategic patent counseling for technology companies in a diverse range of technologies, including aerospace, Internet of Things (IoT), consumer products, automated retail systems, acoustics, augmented and virtual reality, and mobile applications. She has also prepared, prosecuted, and analyzed patent applications in a variety of other technical areas, including semiconductor fabrication and design, cleantech, commercial equipment and other mechanical and electromechanical technologies.
