LSW Institute Awarded Grant from US Small Business Administration to Support Entrepreneurship Programs

We are pleased to announce that Life Science Washington Institute (LSWI) has been awarded a $125,000 grant from the US Small Business Administration (SBA) to increase the number of Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) awards in Washington state.
 
LSWI is partnering with the Washington Procurement and Technical Assistance Center on the grant to provide the following services statewide: training entrepreneurs or small business owners (at no charge) on how to register their companies and complete competitive SBIR/STTR applications, training a cohort of trainers to deliver SBIR/STTR education and programming across the state, providing one-stop-shop access to SBIR/STTR grant and contract resources via a centralized website, and building a mentoring pool for first-time grant applicants to access.
 
The grant is part of the SBA’s Federal And State Technology (FAST) Partnership program. The objective of the FAST grant, which is renewable for up to five years, is to strengthen the competitiveness of small businesses and startups across the country, particularly those from underserved communities to help them benefit from the SBIR/STTR. Through FAST, the SBA continues to play a critical role in creating inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystems and helping American entrepreneurs grow their networks and revenue opportunities with new capital.
