Policy Matters 2024 – Fueling the AI Revolution: People, Power, Purpose

8:00 am - 3:15 pm PST

The Technology Alliance’s Policy Matters conference brings together cross-sector leaders from across Washington state to make connections, build bridges, and expand knowledge – all focused on strengthening the state’s innovation economy.

With this year’s theme, we’re breaking down the day into 3 core sessions:

  • People: The day will begin with a focus on the workforce demands of this latest industrial revolution, both technical requirements as well as the new skills that will be essential for virtually every employed or school-aged person.
  • Power: Next, we’ll explore the literal energy demands of AI. The discussion will address why AI consumes so much power, how utilities plan to meet those demands with current and future energy sources, and how AI researchers are working to minimize energy consumption.
  • Purpose: We’ll conclude by highlighting the extraordinary advancements in science, accessibility, and productivity enabled by AI, while thoughtfully addressing the ethical implications and necessary safeguards.

You’ll get a solid understanding of each section and opportunity to discuss how public policy can help artificial intelligence. Each session will be 90 minutes long.

Who should attend? Legislators, policy advocates, academics, industry professionals, and anyone concerned with the future of Washington’s status as a hub of the innovation economy.

Why attend? To gain foundational knowledge from experts about artificial intelligence and its impact that will drive future innovation.
