Dr. Paul Buckley, vice president and chief workforce experience officer, spearheads efforts to embed and affirm Fred Hutch Cancer Center’s values in our science and culture. In this new role, Paul works with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in support of the research and care mission.
Prior to joining Fred Hutch in February 2020, Dr. Buckley has had an impactful career in higher education, from large public and private institutions to small selective liberal arts colleges. He has a strong track record of success in building programs and initiatives that advance inclusive excellence to actualize fairness and success for all; as well as the academic training and expertise in related topics — he holds a doctorate in cultural foundations of education from Syracuse University. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration/African American studies and Master of Science degree in educational administration and policy studies from the University at Albany, State University of New York.

Paul currently serves on Life Science Washington’s Nominating & Governance Committee.
