Three Seattle-based biotech startups are coming together to support the open-access development of protein folding and design software in a new project called OpenFold.

Cyrus Biotechnology, Outpace Bio and Arezda are teaming up in support of the development of new proteins that can be used as drugs or in industrial applications.

The project is working to improve AlphaFold2, a groundbreaking machine learning tool that predicts how proteins fold into three-dimensional shapes. This software has the potential to accelerate the development of new drugs, enzymes, and biomaterials as proteins are the basis of numerous treatment options
