Seattle Biotech Nonprofit Access to Advanced Health Institute Lands Funding to Improve Vaccine Responses

Seattle-based biotech nonprofit the Access to Advanced Health Institute has landed the first phase of up to $12.7M in funding for a five-year project. The funding is provided by the Medical CBRN Defense Consortium Other Transaction Authority. An AAHI spokesperson said the first tranche of funding is $2.5M, covering the first year of the project.

AAHI aims to make vaccines that are accessible across geographic and economic regions. In addition to pandemic influenza and tuberculosis, the nonprofit is developing vaccines for Covid-19, HIV and malaria, among others. In addition to grants and donations, AAHI also generates revenue from licensing its technology to other companies.
