Seed Funding Leads to Major Grant to Test Promising Gene Replacement Strategy

Dr. Hichem Tasfaout of the University of Washington is part of a multi-institutional team that has received an NIH R01 grant to advance a gene replacement strategy for RYR-1-related diseases. The research builds on early seed funding from the RYR-1 Foundation, growing from a $25K grant to nearly $500K to advance Tasfaout’s gene therapy methods toward preclinical testing.
