LSW member Tune Therapeutics has been included in Fierce Biotech’s 2026 Fierce 15, recognizing the company’s work using epigenetic tuning to control gene expression. This year’s Fierce 15 list features a diverse range of companies with deep scientific roots and the latest technology and the selected winners are a reminder of the remarkable early-stage innovation that the industry continues to produce.

Tune is developing TUNE-401 as a potential treatment for chronic hepatitis B, a disease affecting more than 250M people worldwide. Tune’s Tempo platform controls expression in single or multiple genes by making targeted changes to DNA packaging and accessibility within cells. What makes this platform unique is that rather than irreversibly altering the DNA by knocking out or deleting genes like other gene editing technologies, it tunes gene expression without changing the DNA sequence itself.

“We have a very talented group of scientists working in a particularly exciting new field with proof of concept that we can durably silence a gene of interest,” said Tune’s CEO John McHutchison. “We’re pushing the field forward and we’ll move forward on the therapeutics.”
